Cue ball control is the key to making a run out easy. This is a good drill for beginners to learn about playing position and for intermediate players to improve their position skills.
Place the cue ball as shown and pocket the ball closest to the rail. Play position, using one rail, for the next ball in line. Be sure to leave yourself an angle to play position for the next ball in line. Do this drill from both sides of the table. You may find that you are better one one side then the other.
